US soldier arrested for negligent driving and failure to aid injured in hit and run

A U.S. soldier, 21, from the U.S. Iwakuni Base was arrested on July 3 for negligent driving resulting in a collision and failure to aid an injured.

While driving on a national highway with good visibility in Hiroshima Prefecture, he collided head-on with a large truck. He fled without aiding his fellow passenger who was seriously injured and was left behind in the car.

The arrested, Jose Manuel Rodoriguez (U.S. nationality), denied the charges, saying that he does not remember. His fellow passenger sustained a cervical spine injury.
