Naha City Assembly protests at indecent assault by a U.S. marine The Naha City Assembly in Okinawa Prefecture on August 9 unanimously adopted resolutions in regard to the indecent assault incident by a U.S. soldier. In the resolutions, the Naha City Assembly demanded strict punishment of the perpetrator, full compensation to the victim, drastic revision of the Japan-U.S. Status of Forces Agreement, reduction of U.S. military bases in Japan and cuts in numbers of U.S. forces in Okinawa. Representatives of the assembly visited the Foreign Ministry Naha office, the Defense Ministry Naha Defense Bureau, and the U.S. Consulate General in Okinawa. - Akahata, August 10, 2010
