How can Japan host COP10 while promoting base construction?
The very existence of Okinawa’s rich natural environment is now being threatened by the realignment of the U.S. forces stationed there. The Japanese government’s responsibility is called into question as the chair of the tenth Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP10).

US begs Japan for continuation of ‘sympathy budget’
The U.S. government is expressing its desire for an increase in the so-called “sympathy budget” from Japan, warning beforehand against decreasing the “sympathy budget” for the stationing of U.S. military in Japan.
