US serviceman arrested for trespassing Kanagawa Prefectural Police on November 21 arrested a 22-year-old U.S. sailor on suspicion of trespassing. The suspect U.S. serviceman, a crewmember of the U.S. nuclear-powered aircraft carrier George Washington at the U.S. Naval Yokosuka Base, allegedly climbed on the peak of a roof of a private residence in Yokosuka City while drunk and then ran away early in the morning hours. Niikura Yasuo, secretary general of the Miura Peninsular liaison council against deployment of the U.S. nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, on November 22 made a comment protesting strongly against the act of the U.S. serviceman. The comment calls on the U.S. Navy to conduct a thorough investigation and to disclose full information regarding the incident, and to apologize to the citizens. It also calls for the immediate removal of the U.S. nuclear-powered aircraft carrier from Yokosuka. He requests that Yokosuka Mayor Yoshida Yuto lodge a protest to the U.S. Navy and demand an apology. - Akahata, November 23, 2010
