The Okinawa Prefectural Police arrested a U.S. sailor on suspicion of drunk driving on October 16.
The sailor is a 30-year-old petty officer second class stationed at the U.S. White Beach Naval Base in Uruma City.
According to the police, shortly before 6:00 p.m. on that day, the serviceman collided with a mini-vehicle at an intersection in Chatan Town while he was riding a motorcycle. The alcohol level in his breath exceeded the legal limit.
The suspect reportedly acknowledged that he had drunk beer before driving.
