The Okinawa Prefectural Police on January 28 announced that a U.S. marine stationed at the U.S. Futenma base was arrested on the spot for punching a hotel employee.

According to the police, Sergeant James Cliffe III on the night of January 27 entered the lobby of a hotel in Chatan Town under the influence of alcohol and hit a male worker who asked Cliffe to leave. The suspect was not a hotel guest.

The suspect refuses to speak.
