Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo and other JCP lawmakers took part in a general meeting jointly held by a Japanese parliamentarians’ group for Japan-South Korea friendship and its counterpart in South Korea on November 29 in the Diet Building. This was held for the first time in three years.
JCP Dietmembers in October decided to join the Japan-Korea Parliamentarians’ Union (Nikkan Giin Renmei) which aims to promote exchange and friendship between parliamentarians of Japan and South Korea.
Watanabe Kozo, a Democratic Party of Japan lawmaker and the leader of Nikkan Giin Renmei, said that with the JCP’s participation this league now consists of all political parties.
About 100 parliamentarians from both sides in the meeting offered a moment of silence for victims of North Korea’s artillery attack on South Korea’s Yeonpyeong Island.
