Shii sends sympathy telegram to Sri Lankan president
Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on April 23 sent a telegram of sympathy to Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena for the wave of terrorist bombings across Sri Lanka two days earlier. The telegram Shii sent reads as follows:
I would like to express my deep condolences to the victims and their bereaved families affected by the serial terror attacks that occurred on April 21 in several cities, including Colombo, and would also like to extend my heartfelt sympathy to the government of Sri Lanka. I am deeply angered by such a brutal act that indiscriminately targeted innocent citizens and would like to sincerely convey my solidarity with you for the eradication of terrorism.

Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on April 23 sent a telegram of condolence to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam over the death of former Vietnamese President Le Duc Anh.
Shii in the telegram extended his condolences and sympathy to the bereaved family, the CPV, and the people of Vietnam. The telegram also reads, "I reflect on comrade Anh's contribution in leading Vietnamese independence and national liberalization, nation-building, and social progress, and would like to pay my utmost respect in regard to his accomplishments."
Koike attends farewell party for outgoing Korean ambassador
Japanese Communist Party Secretariat Head Koike Akira on April 23 attended a farewell reception hosted by the Japan-South Korea Parliamentarians' Union in Tokyo for South Korean Ambassador to Japan Lee Su-hoon, and exchanged greetings with participants.
Koike, on behalf of the JCP, gave a speech. He said, "We'd like to express our heartfelt respect for the efforts Ambassador Lee made during his tenure in Japan. Our party will continue to work hard in order to move ahead with the effort to establish peace on the Korean Peninsula. Upon your return, we wish every success in your efforts to build a bridge of friendship between Japan and South Korea."
From the JCP, Kasai Akira (Lower House), Kokuta Keiji (LH), and Inoue Satoshi (Upper House) also attended the reception.
