The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department has arrested a U.S. marine on suspicion of severely injuring a man in Tokyo.

According to Tokyo Police, 21-year-old Hill Kahsai Tyree punched a man on the street in Tokyo early in the morning late last month, inflicting bodily injury upon the man that will need five weeks to heal. About one hour before the assault, he beat up a taxi driver and ran away without paying the fare. The police said that before he was questioned by the police for his suspicious behavior, he attacked five people in succession. He was drunk at the time.

He was in Japan to participate in military drills. His accommodation was in Camp Fuji in Shizuoka, but on the day of the incident he stayed at a private lodging facility in Tokyo.
