Japanese Communist Party Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo in charge of the JCP International Commission on June 29 held talks with Cuban Ambassador to Japan Miguel A Ramirez in Tokyo.
They exchanged views on the first meeting of the State Parties to the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) which successfully ended on June 23 and talked about the importance of the upcoming NPT Review Conference in August. They also talked over the issue in which the United States excluded three countries (Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela) from the Summit of the Americas held in Los Angles mid-June.
They explained the political climate in Japan as well as the ongoing Upper House election and the situation in Latin America, respectively.
