Japanese Communist Party Central Committee Chair Shii Kazuo, moderated by Rosa Luxemburg Foundation Chair Heinz Bierbaum, had a theoretical exchange on the theme of “Communism and Freedom” with the foundation’s experts in the fields of theory, labor, and society at the foundation’s headquarters in Berlin on September 2.
In the JCP’s recent theoretical and practical activities in regard to “Communism and Freedom”, this is the first theoretical exchange held between the JCP and European experts.
Shii began his talk in German, saying, “It is a great pleasure for me to have this theoretical exchange in the home country of Marx and Engels.”
Shii explained that the JCP is intensifying its theoretical and practical activities under the theme of “Communism and Freedom” because of its quest to apply Marx’s theory to the modern world after the party established the current program line in 1961.
Shii said that each time the JCP leaps ahead, ruling circles respond with anti-communist attacks. Based on the lessons learned from such political struggles, Shii said that the JCP works to convey the truth about “Communism and Freedom” to the general public as a strategy to form a majority.
