Ogata meets with Cuban friendship institute chief
Japanese Communist Party Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo who heads the party’s international commission on October 22 met with visiting Fernando Gonzalez Llort, the president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the People (ICAP), and Alicia Corredera, ICAP Asia-Pacific director, in Tokyo.
They exchanged views on the political climate in Japan and the situation surrounding Cuba. They also discussed future cooperation in promoting the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.
Cuban Ambassador to Japan Gisela Garcia was also present at their meeting.
Shii sends message of condolence upon death of ex-chair of Korea-Japan lawmakers’ union
Japanese Communist Party Central Committee Chair Shii Kazuo on October 23 sent a telegram of condolence upon the death of former Chair of the Korea-Japan Parliamentarians’ Union Lee Sang-Deuk.
Lee served as a National Assembly member for six terms and was the president of the Korea-Japan Parliamentarians’ Union between 2008 and 2012. When a delegation of Japan’s parliamentary union visited South Korea, Lee held talks with Shii and other JCP Dietmembers.
