Anti-nuclear NGOs will hold a huge demonstration in New York on May 2 next year.
This was confirmed on May 9 at a general meeting of the international anti-nuclear network “Abolition 2000”, held in New York on the occasion of the preparatory committee meeting of the NPT Review Conference.
At the proposal of the Japan Council against A & H Bombs (Japan Gensuikyo), the meeting decided to designate May 2 next year, the day before the NPT Review Conference begins, as the world’s joint action day for a world without nuclear weapons.
Gensuikyo Secretary General Taka Hiroshi also proposed that member NGOs jointly submit signatures calling for the abolition of nuclear weapons at the first or second day of the Review Conference. The proposal was also agreed upon.
