Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo attended a reception on August 28 in Tokyo to welcome the arrival of Johan Cels as the new United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) representative for Japan, who is replacing Takizawa Saburo.
Cels said he knows that the JCP has raised funds for donating to cyclone victims in Burma (Myanmar) and expressed appreciation for the JCP effort.
JCP Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo and JCP International Bureau Deputy Director Tashiro Tadatoshi also attended the reception.
