Yamato Police in Kanagawa Prefecture on December 3 sent the case involving a 23-year-old U.S. sailor to the public prosecutors’ office on suspicion of sexual assault resulting in injuries.
According to the police, the sailor, a mate 2nd class assigned to the U.S. Naval Atsugi base in Kanagawa, committed an act of violence against a woman on a street in the early hours of July 21, took her into his home for further assaults, and injured her. He was drunk, the police said.
