Commenting on a South Korean daily’s editorial claiming that the A-bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during WWII were “divine punishment,” Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on May 24 said on Twitter, “Such a comment is inexcusable.”
The editorial was run by South Korea’s Joongang Daily on May 20.
Following the tweet, saying, “Fanning flames of aggressive nationalism is nothing but destructive behavior,” Shii went on to tweet, “In diplomacy, there is nothing worse than nationalism hostile toward other nations. It is necessary to develop mutual understanding and mutual respect for each other.”
