As its key strategy to make a comeback and regain control of the government, the Liberal Democratic Party has resumed its activities focusing on constitutional revision by establishing a task force.
On December 10, the LDP task force to promote its plan for revising the Constitution began experimenting with the LDP’s “draft of a new constitution” and examining the Japanese Constitution article by article based on the time schedule set at its first meeting on December 4.
Citing that the LDP party program calls for creating “an independent constitution,” LDP president Tanigaki Sadakazu said, “As the LDP’s slogan, we will push the issue of constitutional revision forward.”
