Japanese Communist Party Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo on August 22 had talks with Lee Nak Yon, spokesman of the ruling United New Democratic Party, at the National Assembly building in Seoul.
Lee, an old acquaintance of Ogata, attended the talks that the Democratic Party had with a JCP delegation led by Chair Shii Kazuo last September.
Lee and Ogata exchanged opinions on the second South and North Korean summit meeting scheduled for October, South Korea-Japan relations, and the Six-party talks. Li explained about the turbulent South Korean political situation on the eve of the presidential election. Ogata talked about the House of Councilors election in which the pro-Yasukuni forces suffered a major defeat as well as Japan’s recent political situation. - Akahata, August 24, 2007
