Japanese Communist Party Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo at the JCP head office in Tokyo on April 18 met Do Nguyen Phuong, the Communist Party of Vietnam Science and Technology Council chair who was in Japan.
Pointing out that this meeting is the first occasion of exchange between the two parties since JCP Chair Shii Kazuo’s successful visit to Vietnam in January, Ogata expressed his hope to further develop multifaceted relations between them through mutual exchanges concerning specific topics like this meeting which was devoted to questions about science.
Phuong spoke about the present tasks that Vietnam is facing in their efforts to evolve toward socialism through a market economy, and explained the tasks and activities of his council.
In a friendly atmosphere, both exchanged views on science and technology and party construction as well as ideas regarding socialism and the market economy. - Akahata, April 19, 2007
