The National Liaison Council of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises Circles (Zenchuren) on October 2 made the first representations to the newly-formed government calling for financial measures to be swiftly taken in support of smaller businesses.
About 100 participants visited seven ministries and agencies.
At a rally it held prior to the representations, members of the Japanese Communist Party and the People’s New Party gave speeches in support.
On behalf of the People’s New Party, Finance Minister Kamei Shizuka said, “Amid the difficult situation facing smaller businesses, we’d like to establish laws to prevent banks’ use of credit crunch and credit withdrawal tactics as well as to extend deadlines for repaying loans.”
JCP representative Sasaki Kensho stated, “Your struggle is important in forcing the minister to decide how and when he carries out what he has promised under the new cabinet. We will bring up your difficult conditions for discussion and do our utmost in the Diet to address the issues concerning you.”
