Shii said, “Although the Japan-China summit last year and Premier Wen’s visit to Japan at this time laid the groundwork for resolving the historical questions, the outcome of this agreement depends on efforts from now on. The JCP is determined to make every effort to eliminate the cause of the adverse current.”
“I express my severe condemnation of the person who committed this dreadful act. This act is a violent attack against freedom and democracy in Japan and must not be condoned,” Shii stated in his statement.
Ichida severely criticized the ruling parties by stating, “The forcible passage of the bill in the House of Representatives is absolutely incompatible with the basic rules of parliamentary democracy.”
