The pro-Yasukuni force, which says that Japan’s past war of aggression was a “just war,” is putting up like-minded candidates under the ticket of the Liberal Democratic Party or the Democratic Party of Japan in the upcoming House of Councilors election.
In defiance of the sharp public criticism of the government mismanagement of public pension, the LDP and Komei Party used their majority at the Lower House plenary session to bulldoze through pension bills.
Commenting on the victory over an LDP and Komei Party-backed candidate, JCP Secretariat Head Ichida said, “Residents’ demands for a halt to wasteful use of tax money and cancellation of increases in tax burdens helped achieve this victory.”
