“Structural reform” in agriculture is aimed at opening Japan’s agriculture and farmland to joint stock companies in order to quickly promote large-scale farming while destroying family farmers who have been the main players in the nation’s agriculture.
The Japanese government is exploring the possibility of signing a SOFA with Iraq in order to continue dispatching the Air Self-Defense Force to meet U.S. requests. Further dispatch of the ASDF will only hamper peace in Iraq.
As stated by the assembly resolution, Okinawans are opposed to the new base construction because the residents will be forced to shoulder more burdens and the construction will lead to perpetuating the presence of the U.S. military base.
