In the keynote speech, Noguchi Kunikazu, a representative of the Organizing Committee for the World Conference against A & H Bombs, called for greater efforts to create a surge in the movement to abolish nuclear weapons toward the 2010 conference to reassess the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
As well as immediate monetary measures, it is necessary to impose more drastic and stricter restrictions on hedge funds and establish an international agreement that crude oil and grain, both vital for human existence, must not be manipulated for speculative purposes.
“It is deceptive for Democratic Party President Ozawa Ichiro to call for Japan-U.S. relations to be built on an equal footing while on the other hand agreeing with the U.S. secretary of state to further strengthen the alliance between the two countries,” said Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo.
