Japanese Communist Party representative Yoshii Hidekatsu on April 13 in the House of Representatives Committee on the Cabinet criticized the release of “low-level” radioactive water into the sea (conducted between April 4 and 10) as having violated an international treaty regulation.
Yosano Kaoru, State Minister in charge of Economic and Fiscal Policy, at a post-cabinet meeting press conference on April 15 expressed his intention to continue promoting nuclear power generation, irrespective of the danger of nuclear accidents.
The Tobu District Committee of the Japanese Communist Party in Miyagi Prefecture is still suffering from the catastrophic damage. Many JCP members there are also sufferers themselves, but by sharing in residents’ grief, they have resolved to start over again in leading efforts to restore people’s lives.
