For the past 60 years under the Japan-U.S. Security Treaty, the number of crimes and accidents committed by U.S. military personnel in Japan reached nearly 210,000, including the deaths of 1,088 Japanese civilians.
About 90 percent of disaster-affected business owners said that their business reconstruction “has made little progress” or that “there are no prospects” for the reconstruction of their businesses even six months after the 3.11 disaster.
“At the moment, there is no need to set out a vision for an East Asian community,” said Prime Minister Noda Yoshihiko in a monthly magazine published on September 10, showing that his diplomatic policy will be centering on the Japan-U.S. relations.
