The Japanese Communist Party and a women’s group on May 13 protested against Osaka Mayor Hashimoto Toru for sympathizing with the Japanese Imperial military’s sex slavery system.
Calling for a “bold monetary easing” policy to be implemented, the Abe Cabinet’s “Abenomics” financial scheme is pouring a vast amount of funds into banks. Behind this move, financial support to struggling small- and medium-sized businesses was cut off.
While various international agreements as well as international law firmly identify Japan’s past military action as a war of aggression, Abe’s remarks that state aggression is yet to be defined deny the very legitimacy of postwar international politics.
