Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo published a statement welcoming a Draft N-ban Convention released by Elayne Whyte, the president of the UN Conference on a nuclear weapons ban treaty.
UN Special Rapporteur on Privacy Joseph Cannataci argued against the Japanese government which had lodged a ‘strong protest’ against his open letter critical of the ‘anti-conspiracy’ bill currently under discussion in the Japanese Diet.
The ruling coalition railroaded the ‘anti-conspiracy’ bill through the Lower House amid growing criticism from inside and outside Japan that the bill will infringe on people’s freedom of thought. The bill was sent to the House of Councilors.
