Gov’t adds 3 more prefectures to COVID-19 emergency declaration

The government decided to expand the state of emergency to the three prefectures of Hokkaido, Okayama, and Hiroshima. Accordingly, the number of prefectures placed under the emergency declaration increased to nine, including Tokyo and Osaka.

All four opinion polls conducted by the Asahi Shimbun, Kyodo News, the ANN news network, and the Fuji-Sankei group, show that a majority of the respondents call for the postponement or the cancellation of the Tokyo Olympic/Paralympic Games.
