US P-8 patrol aircraft crashes at Kadena base in Okinawa

December 22, 2016
A U.S. Navy P-8A Poseidon maritime surveillance airplane stationed at the U.S. Kadena base in Okinawa on December 19 caused a “Class A” accident which is an accident involving more than two million dollars in damage or a death.

Akahata uncovered this from the materials the U.S. Naval Safety Center released on or before December 21.

In Okinawa, it was only recently that a U.S. Marine Corps MV-22 Osprey crashed on an Okinawan beach (Dec.13) following another crash of an AV-8B Harrier jet fighter into the sea off Okinawa in September. “Class A” accidents have been occurring in succession around Okinawa.
