Shii talks with Cuban ambassador
Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo visited the Cuban Embassy in Tokyo on February 13 to hold talks with Cuban ambassador to Japan Carlos Miguel Pereira.
Shii expressed his gratitude for the ambassador’s attendance at the JCP 27th Congress in January. In response, the ambassador offered Shii his congratulations on the historical success of the JCP Congress.
Shii referred to the JCP’s stance and activities toward the first UN conference on an international convention to ban all nuclear weapons which is scheduled for the coming March in New York City. He expressed his hope for strengthening cooperation with Cuba which has actively worked on this issue as a member of the Non-Aligned Movement and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean Nations (CELAC).
Ambassador Pereira showed his willingness to further promote cooperation with the JCP, explaining Cuba’s long-standing efforts to achieve the total abolition of nuclear arms.
