Two U.S. military electronic-warfare jets were forced to make emergency landings at the Japan Air Self-Defense Force Hyakuri base in Ibaraki Prefecture, the Defense Ministry announced on May 14.
According to the Japanese defense authority, the aircraft in question were two of the three EA-18G Growler electronic attack fighters which flew from a U.S. base in Guam to the U.S. Misawa base in Aomori Prefecture. Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries or damage. The Defense Ministry is now working to collect detailed information concerning the incidents.
