During the 196th ordinary session of the Diet (January-July 2018), more than 13 million petition signatures were submitted to the Diet via the Japanese Communist Party.
A total of 28 million signatures were delivered to the Diet in the six-month session. The JCP helped with the submission of 48% of the total. This is the highest percentage among all political parties, with 23% introduced by the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan and 13% by the Liberal Democratic Party.
The 13 million signatures were collected in various campaigns that reflect people’s demand for the realization of a government that works to protect peace, the Constitution, human rights, and people’s livelihood.
The 13 million signatures included signatures calling for blocking Abe’s move to revise the Constitution, a raise in the government subsidies for private schools, and an increase in the number of childcare workers and their wages.
