Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on November 19 held talks with new Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Vu Hong Nam at the JCP head office in Tokyo.
The ambassador referred to the eighth theoretical exchange meeting between the JCP and the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) which took place in Vietnam in October. He said that he was pleased at seeing the two parties developing their ties as shown by the success of the latest theoretical exchange.
Shii expressed his hearty welcome to the new ambassador. Recalling that the two parties’ relations have a shared history dating back to the Vietnamese people’s war for national salvation and against the U.S. aggression, he said that based on this history the JCP and the CPV made joint efforts at the UN to have the nuclear weapons ban treaty adopted.
Shii said that he hopes that the JCP will promote opinion exchanges and cooperation with the CPV, further strengthen the two parties’ ties, and work to contribute to the friendship between Japan and Vietnam.
JCP Vice Chair and International Commission Chair Ogata Yasuo also attended the talks.
