A demonstration in protest against sexual molestation, domestic violence, and rape took place on June 11 in ten locations in Japan, shouting, "Say, 'No!' We will no longer cry ourselves to sleep in silence!"
Holding colorful flowers or placards that read, "#MeToo" and "No to sexual violence", sexually abused victims and their supporters gathered at the Tokyo station square and talked about their painful experiences.
Action organizer Sugita Yuna said, "Our action expressed our outrage and is supported nationwide." Yamamoto Kazuna in regard to a series of not-guilty-judgements on sexual assault said, "Rape is a crime. A system to support victims of sex crimes is necessary." A 33-year-old man said, "Men should raise their voices in protest against sexual and gender-based violence. What we want is a gender-equal society."
