A global network consisting of more than 2,000 antinuke peace organizations in its latest annual general meeting unanimously resolved to endorse a “Peace Wave” action which was called for by the Japan Council against A and H Bombs (Japan Gensuikyo), Akahata reported on May 27.
According to the Akahata report, the Steering Committee of the International Peace Bureau (IPB), which has 400 member organizations across the globe, also decided to support the “Peace Wave” action and this year’s World Conference against A and H Bombs in August.
Using their network, the Abolition 2000 Global Network to Eliminate Nuclear Weapons which was founded in 1995 and the IPB will call on their affiliate organizations to take part in the “Peace Wave” action slated from August 6 to August 9 by organizing various grassroots events centering on the international signature-collection campaign in support of Hibakusha’s call for the elimination of nuclear weapons.
The Abolition 2000 annual general meeting also declared its unanimous support for the 2020 antinuke World Conference scheduled to be held online on August 6 and August 9.
Regarding the online World Conference in August, Japan Gensuikyo stated that it has high expectations for the success of this event, and announced that IPB Co-President Philipp Jennings and the General Secretary of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND), Kate Hudson, will join in the online World Conference.
