Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on January 11 demanded that the government promptly suspend entry from all countries as a frontline measure in order to prevent further inflow of coronavirus variants and mutations.
The government, however, continues to allow entry of business travelers from eleven countries, including China and South Korea, even during the state of emergency.
Shii said that the new strain of coronavirus is spreading in the U.K. and is out of control, and that the city of London is at a crisis point as the city declared that it is experiencing a "major incident".
"At a time like this," he criticized, "it is too lax for Japan to continue allowing entry of people from other countries."
