Kenkoro annual convention resolves to realize minimum hourly wage of 1,500 yen

August 30, 2021

The All Japan Construction, Transport and General Workers' Union (CTG, Kenkoro) in its annual convention held on August 28 and 29 adopted an action program seeking to realize a nationwide, across-the-board minimum wage system and a minimum national hourly wage of 1,500 yen.

Under the adopted action program for next year, Kenkoro will also work to secure employment and improve working conditions even under the pandemic situation; increase government support for smaller businesses; and push the government to enforce strict compliance with the eight-hour workday at tunnel construction sites.

In discussion sessions, in-person and online delegates exchanged information regarding their activities. Among them, there were reports on efforts to organize ready mixed concrete truck drivers and dump truck drivers.
