Japanese Communist Party Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo, who is in charge of the JCP International Commission, held talks online with Le Hoai Trung, chairman of the Communist Party of Vietnam Commission for External Relations, on July 5 and exchanged views on the situation in the region and the rest of the world.
The CPV External Relations chief conveyed a message of congratulations from CPV General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to JCP Chair Shii Kazuo for the JCP's centennial anniversary. Ogata extended his gratitude for the warm message.
After talking about international issues, including the situation in Ukraine, and the regional situation, they discussed cooperation between the two parties in regard to peace in East Asia, the abolition of nuclear weapons, and future theoretical exchanges. They shared the importance of protecting peace, especially as East Asia is facing increasingly complicated challenges.
Ogata stressed the significance of the success of the first meeting of the State Parties to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) held in Vienna in June. He discussed tasks for a success of the NPT Review Conference at the UN headquarters in NYC slated for August.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Vu Hong Nam was also present at the meeting.
