JCP delivers over 5 million yen in donations to Japan-based aid organizations working in Gaza

June 1, 2024
Japanese Communist Party member of the House of Councilors Inoue Satoshi on May 31 visited the Tokyo-based international NGO, Japan International Volunteer Center (JVC), which works in Gaza in collaboration with UN organizations, to deliver about 1.64 million yen in donations the JCP had collected throughout Japan for humanitarian aid to Gaza citizens.

At a meeting with the JCP lawmaker, JVC representative director Imai Takaki thanked Inoue for delivering the donations and expressed his determination to use the money in an effective way to support the people in the Gaza Strip.

Talking about the JVC’s activities, Imai said, “The Israeli-blockade of border crossings has made it impossible for us to carry in food and essential goods.” He added that the JVC plans to distribute cash handouts to Gaza citizens with the aim of helping them survive the sky-high inflation.

On this day, the JCP also visited the offices of the Campaign for the Children of Palestine in Tokyo and the Hokkaido Medical Service for Palestine in Hokkaido’s Sapporo City. The JCP handed about 1.64 million yen in donations to each organization, both of which provide humanitarian assistance in cooperation with UN organizations in Gaza.
