JCP sends a letter of congratulations to Mexico’s 1st woman president

The Japanese Communist Party on June 4 sent a letter of congratulations to Claudia Sheinbaum of the leftist Morena Party (National Regeneration Movement) for her victory in the Mexican presidential election.

The president-elect will be the first female Mexican president in its history.

The JCP in the letter expressed its hope that the lives of the Mexican people will be further improved under the new president. It also expressed hope that a politics that overcomes neoliberal policies and places emphasis on measures to realize gender equality will develop.

The JCP hopes that cooperation between the JCP and the Morena Party, the Mexican government will make progress on common issues such as overcoming neoliberalism and working for the abolition of nuclear weapons.
