JCP Chair Tamura at 102nd anniversary meeting calls for more people to join JCP

July 14 & 15, 2024

The Japanese Communist Party on July 13 held a lecture meeting to commemorate the 102nd anniversary of the JCP founding, connecting the party head office and many locations across the country online.

JCP Chair Tamura Tomoko at the meeting spoke on people’s livelihoods, peace, fundamental human rights, and a future society entitled, “Now is a time of historic opportunity to change Japan.”

Reviewing the past 12 years after the Liberal Democratic Party made a comeback to power, Tamura spoke of the current state of failure and deadlock in the LDP government. She also talked about prospects for the transition to a new government.

Tamura stated that the power to change politics lies in the people’s movement and struggle in addition to a major JCP breakthrough. She called on people to join the JCP by saying, “It is a time of historic opportunity to open the door to a new era. Let’s walk together to lead the new era!”

In response to Tamura’s call, 48 youth and workers decided to become JCP members on that day.
