USMC Ospreys make ‘precautionary landing’ at civil airport on Amami Oshima island

November 15, 2024

Two U.S. Marine Corps MV-22 Ospreys which belong to the USMC Futenma base (Okinawa Pref.) on November 14 made unplanned landings, so-called “precautionary landing”, at a civil airport in Kagoshima’s Amami City.

The incident occurred after 10 a.m. on the day. The two Osprey aircraft left the airport at around 3:30 p.m. for the Futenma base.

The Defense Ministry explained that the two aircraft made “precautionary landings” at Amami Airport after a warning lamp came on in one of the two aircraft during their flights.
