Japanese Communist Party Central Committee Chair Shii Kazuo on January 16 released a statement regarding the ceasefire deal made between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The following is his statement:
Israel and Hamas, an Islamic organization in Gaza, on January 15 (local time) announced a ceasefire agreement over the fighting in Gaza. We welcome the agreement as a step toward putting an end to mass killings and destruction in Gaza by Israel and toward freeing the hostages.
Both sides should ensure that the 3-phase agreement will be implemented, leading to a permanent ceasefire and the release of all hostages.
The most pending task is to swiftly resume humanitarian aid to Gaza on a large scale. We demand that Israel immediately stop its obstruction of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) operations and other international humanitarian aid operations.
