Japanese Communist Party Secretariat Head Koike Akira, M.D. and House of Councilors member, on January 21 attended a New Year party held jointly by the Japan Medical Association (JMA) and its political league in Tokyo.
Delivering a speech, Koike pointed out that medical institutions, public and private, are facing a serious financial crisis, and said that it is necessary to establish a system to increase the amount of the state remuneration for healthcare services in response to a rise in prices.
Along with Koike, representatives of other political parties also delivered speeches.
Koike had friendly conversations with JMA President Matsumoto Kichiro, other JMA executives and heads of local medical associations.
