Japanese Communist Party member of the House of Councilors Kira Yoshiko and former member of the House of Representatives Kasai Akira on April 9 visited the Cuban Embassy in Tokyo and held talks with Ambassador Gisela Garcia.
Kira and Kasai referred to their experience of attending the Third Meeting of State Parties to the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (3MSP TPNW) which took place in March, and reported that they held a fruitful meeting with Deputy Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations Daylenis Guerra at the 3MSP. They thanked Garcia for arranging the meeting.
The ambassador said that she recently heard from Guerra that she was really satisfied with the meeting and having had the opportunity to talk directly with the JCP members.
Asked by Kira for continued cooperation in efforts to abolish nuclear weapons, the ambassador gave a favorable response and said that the abolition of nuclear arms constitutes a foundational great principle in Cuba’s foreign policy.
