Member of the House of Councilors Kira Yoshiko and former member of the House of Representatives Kasai Akira, both JCP members, met with Kazakh Ambassador to Japan Baudarbek-Kozhataev Erlan on April 11 at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Tokyo.
Kira and Kasai reported that they attended the Third Meeting of State Partis to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) in March, and that during their stay in NYC they had a meaningful discussion with Akan Rakhmetullin, first deputy minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, who chaired the Third Meeting.
They thanked the ambassador for his cooperation in having arranged the opportunity for a Nihon Hidankyo representative to speak at the opening of the Meeting.
The ambassador said that he had conveyed the request he received from the Nihon Hidankyo to the chairperson regarding the opportunity to make a speech, and added he is glad that it came to fruition.
The Kazakh ambassador responded positively to JCP Kira’s request for Kazakhstan’s continued cooperation in eliminating nuclear weapons from the world.
