Akahata editorial (excertps)
Akahata in its editorial on September 2 takes up the issue of the ongoing Syrian situation and calls on the Syrian government led by Bachar al-Assad to stop resorting to violence to suppress the pro-democracy protest and guarantee the people’s right to peacefully express their will.
It also calls for a peaceful solution to the problem through diplomatic efforts by the League of Arab and the countries in the region.
The editorial says that military intervention by outside countries must be avoided at any cost, and that Syria must as well make efforts to avoid worsening the situation that would lead to external intervention.
