Japanese Communist Party Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo on April 26 met with Venezuela’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Temir Porras in Tokyo.
Ogata congratulated Porras on the bicentennial of the beginning of Venezuelan people’s fight for independence on April 19, and noted that the Bolivarian Alternative for the America (ALBA) Summit held on the same day was concluded with great success.
Porras stated that as well as exchanges with the Japanese government, the Venezuelan government places importance on the development of exchanges with the JCP and other Japanese organizations in various fields.
Ogata said that he recalls that during his visit in 2005, the then Venezuelan foreign minister agreed to establish a working relationship with the JCP, and that he hopes this relation continues.
Ogata and Porras exchanged their views on both nations’ political situations.
