Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on March 19 met with China-Japan Friendship Association Vice President Jing Dunquan at the JCP head office.
Jing expressed gratitude to the JCP for helping China in relief efforts for the Great Sichuan Earthquake victims and for assistance in hosting the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. He said that this year marks the 60th anniversary of the founding anniversary of the People’s Republic of China and that he hopes that people-to-people relations between China and Japan will further increase, taking advantage of the improved ties between the two countries.
Responding to Jing’s questions, Shii explained the JCP views on the domestic situation in Japan and issues concerning the international economic crisis. He particularly emphasized that the general public is badly affected by the economic crisis.
Jing explained that the recent Chinese People’s Congress adopted a policy of expanding domestic demand as a way to overcome the economic crisis.
